45years Wait for School Renovation

A high school built in the 1950s has received a major renovation makeover. JeffCo Schools spent $5.5 million on renovations at Jefferson High School in Edgewater. Jefferson High was established in 1955, in 1965, the school got a large addition, but that's been it for 45 years.
According to the principal Mike Little, the school hasn't got a renovation since 1965. The $5.5 million improvements include renovation of kitchen, addition of new science wing, air condition replacement and renovation and construction of new women's softball field.
The renovation plan also added energy efficient features like day lighting in the classrooms. The project was funded from 2004 bonds approved by voters for capital improvements to district schools and facilities.
